Build It Back

New York, NY | 2016

Build It Back was a New York City Department of Buildings program which aimed to repair, renovate, elevate, or reconstruct thousands of homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Through AECOM, I relocated to NYC for 5 months where I produced and reviewed drawing sets for single and two-family coastal homes. The work brought on a crash course in residential construction, FEMA flood levels, resilient design, and working with the DOB and their extensive zoning and building codes.

A majority of our projects were elevations, which involved underpinning and lifting the existing structure and designing a new foundation, entry staircases, insulated first floor, and making any other necessary plan adjustments necessary.

All work was completed through AECOM's NYC Office.
